They (Bulog) will support us by providing 75,000 tons of rice
Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama revealed, similar cooperation was also established two years ago. Thus, rice price was stable due to support of Bulog.
"We do cooperation like last year. This year, it will be done until March 2017. They (Bulog) will support us by providing 75,000 tons of rice," he disclosed, at City Hall, Tuesday (10/25).
Rice Price in Cipinang Market is StableBasuki expressed rice supply from Bulog will be distributed to PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya and PD Pasar Jaya. It is hoped able to stabilize rice price in the market.
"If you want to suppress growth of inflation, economic and logistic, the distribution must be good. And now we combine logistic and distribution," he stated.
He is optimistic such step could eliminate peddlers who often conducts stockpiling. If the rice stock in the market declines, his party will directly conduct distribution.
"If they still do that (stockpiling), it will be very detrimental. Because our money, stock and distribution is enough, including beef and buffalo meat," he expressed.
Separately, Bulog Director, Djarot Kusumayakti admitted he was ready to provide basic needs for the capital. Jakarta government itself will prepare its distribution facilities.
"The point is we have new agreement. We'll fully back up what the needs of food and staple in Jakarta. Hence, Mr. governor set up distribution facilities and transportation," he continued.
Such cooperation also aims to maintain inflation. Moreover, the previous cooperation had run smoothly.
"City will be a barometer of the country, would be used to sample in other areas," he finished.
